CICA Projects
At the CICA Foundation, our projects are designed to encourage meaningful connections and foster mutual understanding between China and Israel. We focus on a variety of artistic and cultural disciplines, enabling participants from both nations to engage with each other's heritage, gain insight into the lives of others, enhance our self-awareness, and broaden our understanding of the world.
01
Hanoch Levin to China
Introducing Hanoch Levin's theater plays to China requires a careful approach that encompasses translation, adaptation, and cultural sensitivity. As an Israeli playwright known for his satirical, tragic, and absurdist works, Levin's plays often explore universal themes. By translating his plays into Mandarin Chinese and collaborating with local theaters and artists, it's possible to adapt these works for Chinese audiences while preserving their essence. Promoting these performances and fostering cross-cultural understanding will help bring the richness of Levin's unique theatrical vision to new audiences in China.
02
The Superfluous Man
A multidisciplinary event supported by CICA Foundation. The event, artistically directed by Yehezkel Lazarov, featured performances, video art, character insights, philosophical discussions, and a sleepover party. Focused on the play "The Superfluous Man," adapted by Lazarov from Ivan Goncharov's "Oblomov." The adaptation raises questions about an individual's right to live without leaving a mark and whether detachment from society and work is legitimate in a world centered on aspirations and achievements.
CICA Foundation will introduce the unique event to China in Chinese.
